Logan's Updates

12/31/2009: Happy New Year 2010! Logan says that he is looking forward to writing the new date on his papers at school. He has had a great vacation and is not at all ready to go back to VA Beach in a few days. Today we took this picture while visiting with his Uncle Ron, Aunt Norma, and cousins Johnny and Emily, he really enjoys their company. This is his New Year's Eve Happy Smile!

12/27/2009: Logan is having a wonderful week. He has had great energy and many cousins to spend it on. Although our snow is gone I thought it would be nice to post a sleigh riding picture. Logan and his dog friends have had great fun in the snow. The dogs have chased him down the hill and walked him back to the top faithfully each time he has riden. He is feeling good and his blood counts are holding steady, thank you for all of the well wishes. We have had a very Merry Christmas and we hope you all have too.

12/26/2009: Merry Christmas!!! Wow, what an exciting week before Christmas we have had. Logan finished up his chemo last Friday and rested up for a Saturday morning flight to Charleston, WV to spend Christmas with our families. Logan and AJ flew into WV and were dropped off by his very gracious friend Mike Noell, to spare Logan the 7+ hour van ride after another hard week of Chemo. Emily and I left Virginia Beach at noon on Friday so that we would be in WV to pick up the weary travelers at the airport on Saturday morning. We were aware that a winter storm was expected but we were quite confident that we were going to beat it through the mountain passes and hurried happily along playing Christmas carols and admiring the occasional snow flake that blew past us. We drove almost half way to Charleston before it started to snow in blizzard fashion, during the next four hours of driving we made it less than 60 miles. It was a beautiful drive but very slow, then the snow started to stick and the roads became terrible very quickly. We realized that we should get off the road for the night at the same time that we realized that the exits hadn't been cleared and we couldn't get the mini-van down any of them. So, I drove while Emily dialed the State Police every few minutes telling them the location of cars and trucks stuck in the medians and ditches. We were very relieved to see that the Covington, VA exit ramp was freshly plowed and we got off there for a two night (stranding) stay in the snow. It was quite an adventure and although we were stuck in a very 'rustic' motel in snow well above our knees we were warm and happy to be safe and sound. Logan and AJ made it to WV as scheduled and were picked up in a four wheel drive that brought them back to Logan's grandparents house where they roughed it without electricity or phone for the next three days. Many people in this area are just now regaining their electricity and we have had restored phone service for only a few hours. I have tried to update the site and thank everyone for our many Merry Christmas wishes but the phone and internet lines are operating sporadically at best. So, MERRY CHRISTMAS! we are having a white one, complete with sleigh riding and snow man making. We hope that you all are safe and sound and with your loved ones this Christmas.

12/08/2009: Logan finished up his tests today and is tired but very glad to have them all behind him. Today his blood work showed steady recovery with only his platelets below the low range. He has gone to school both days this week after his early morning tests and just finished up his homework for tonight so all is good here. I’m putting up two more happy pictures from the gingerbread party. The first is of young Jack with two of his friends and his great house. The second is of our girls, they were just getting started when this picture was taken.

12/07/2009: This was a great weekend for the Davis Family. Logan was very tired but surrounded by friends and great fun and that rallied his spirits. On Saturday we had our annual gingerbread house decorating party, this was our best year ever. We had friends come from near and far and Logan just lapped up the attention and enjoyed their company immensely. I am hoping to put happy pictures up all week; this is going to be a very busy week for us. Logan is having his Chemo progress scans with MRI, CT and whole body bone scans on Monday and Tuesday, we won’t get the results right away but we will keep you posted. Thank you for the prayers and support, please keep them coming!

The first picture shows Logan with Brett, Bryce, Nathan, Jonathon, and Joshua on Friday night. They traveled down from Massachusetts and Maryland for the weekend, here they are modeling their matching warrior caps. This picture shows some mid-party fun and just a few of the decorated houses.
