Logan's Updates

02/20/2010: Well, it was a long and ugly Chemo-week but once again he has pushed through and is on the upswing. Today he got to sleep in and didn’t even roll over until after 10am, he was in dire need of some extra rest and he’s starting to feel better. He is able to drink now and has eaten two small meals today, happily we can see that his battery is finally re-charging. We are still fighting his ear infection, it has hung on through a week of IV antibiotics and Chemo so I really don’t know if it is ever going to go away. He has five more days of strong antibiotics, let’s all pray that is enough to beat it down. He looks better and his attitude is great, he is waiting for me right now to entertain him. Thank you all for the positive thoughts! This picture was taken one day during a video game shoot-out, as you can see they were having fun.

02/15/2010: Today we got Logan’s scan report and it was good news. His tumors have remained the same size but have lost density and this suggests that the disease has stabilized. His doctors find this very encouraging and think that the Chemo is doing what we want it to do. He had a long day today and is very tired now so I am posting a happy picture from his trip to FL last month.

02/12/2010: It has been a long week here at our house. Logan has had a terrible ear infection and he has been using all of his energy to fight it. Sadly, his low counts have made it hard to get his pain and fever under control. Finally, today we were given a new prescription that has helped him tremendously. He is still very tired and weak but it looks like he may get some sleep tonight. We haven’t heard anything else about the scan results. We think Monday will bring a full report. This is a snow picture from last week, Emily was going to help Logan build a snowman but they ran out of steam making the bottom and decided to turn it into a giant cupcake. It is still in the front yard but has melted down to softball size. :)

02/10/2010: Yesterday’s scans have been read and are “great!” We had a call from Logan’s nurse and that was the full extent of the information given to us. We will hear more on Monday when we go in for round 9 (I think) of Chemo. In the mean time Logan has really low counts and an ear infection, so he is piled up on the couch. We have a light dusting of new snow today so I thought I’d put up a snow picture from last week. Thank you for all of the prayers and positive thoughts!

02/04/2010: We’ve had a busy time with lots of ups and down since my last update. The good news is that Logan has been feeling great, his energy has been good and he LOVED the snow and being snow bound. His blood counts have held steady and although his immunities are low he is holding strong. He started home bound school this week and after much worry and debate we have decided to carry out this school year from our house. Logan is going to miss his classmates but it has all become too hard. As much as he wanted to go to school, and tried so hard to do days ‘bus to bus’ it was just too much. Now, he will be able to sleep in, eat breakfast and/or lunch at home and then have a few hours of one on one instruction with his teacher. We think this extra rest, lower stress and the exposure to millions less germs on a weekly basis will be good for him. And as a bonus, his home-bound teacher has grandsons and relates very easily to him. They have enjoyed working together this week.
Next week will hold a full round of diagnostic tests for Logan. On Tuesday he will be MRI, CT, X-ray and Bone Scanned, it will be a full day but we are hoping that we will have some good news come of it. We will let you know how it goes, prayers and positive thoughts are welcome.
This picture was taken the day after our big snow, Logan did his best to put his footprints in all the undisturbed snow in our neighborhood ;)
